Job Title:    Mechanical Design Engineer

Location:    Sanford, Florida USA

Summary: The Mechanical Design Engineer’s main responsibility is to perform the design of mechanical parts and installations in compliance with the FAA regulations and support reports and test development to meet customer requirements, company standards and compliance with the Federal Regulations.

  • Create and develop functional engineering designs from concept to hard copy
  • Apply knowledge of technology and materials to produce a design that considers functionality, appearance, producibility, availability and cost.  This may include researching and gathering data to develop drawings.
  • Analyze designs to ensure that they meet structural requirements
  • Develop specifications
  • Develop and maintain presentation drawings and packages
  • Develop and maintain working drawings and packages
  • Perform mechanical drafting in accordance with company standards
  • Communicate designs, data, and specifications to Production and Quality Assurance to ensure an understanding of the part to be developed, and support economical QA inspection
  • Create and revise drawings within the design criteria throughout the project without delaying the application of manpower or completion of the project
  • Communicate on a daily basis to the relevant project manager any unresolved problems, delays, etc. so he/she can assist in resolution of the problem
  • As needed, assist in obtaining sample products from vendors
  • Create, store and control drawing data in accordance with established company systems
  • Perform Value Engineering for the assigned design work, and recommend a course of action to the relevant project manager
  • Perform estimating for the mechanical design requirements


  • BS in mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Background in structures design including direct experience with modern civil avionics systems and aerospace practices
  • 5 Years of design and analysis experience in Part 23 and 25 aircraft
  • STC, aircraft modifications and completions experience
  • Proficient with Solidworks and CAD software with 2 years direct experience
  • Proficient with Word,Excel, PowerPoint
  • Travel:    20%, International travel possible
